03 Choose the right mode
PNG files can represent crisp silhouettes or tonal artwork. Pick the conversion mode based on what the pixels mean in your source image.

Use Shape mode when you want the PNG artwork itself to become a solid object. Use Height Map mode when the light and dark areas should create a raised relief.
04 Four steps

05 Transparent artwork
Shape mode turns a PNG logo into a raised logo, embossed sign or printable badge. If the PNG has transparency, the visible pixels become the solid model and the transparent background is removed.
Keep Use transparency as shape enabled. The transparent edge becomes the outline, so the STL follows the visible mark instead of exporting a rectangle.
Use Shape mode, enable invert if the background is being selected, then move Threshold until the logo reads as one continuous solid.
Increase the final width or use a bolder PNG before export. Very fine lines can look correct on screen but break when sliced or printed.
06 From PNG to 3D model
A PNG is a two-dimensional raster image, while an STL stores a triangle mesh. Converting PNG to STL is not a file renaming step; the pixels must be interpreted as shape or height data first.
Shape mode follows the visible PNG outline, keeps interior holes, and raises the result into a solid STL. Height Map mode maps bright and dark PNG values to surface height, which is better for shaded artwork and relief panels.
07 Print checks
PNG details can be visually clear but physically too thin to print. Before slicing, verify the model dimensions, increase base thickness for larger signs, smooth jagged edges, and use high-resolution PNG sources when possible.
For badges, signs and raised logos, start with 2–4 mm extrusion. Use 1.5–3 mm base thickness when the logo has separated islands that need to stay aligned on the print bed.
Higher detail preserves more PNG edge information but produces a larger STL file. Use High for curved logos and fine icons, Medium for simple marks, and Low only for quick drafts.
Small strokes may disappear or break on a printer. Avoid details near or below your nozzle width, increase the model width, or choose a bolder source PNG when fine lines look fragile.
Import the downloaded STL into Tinkercad for simple edits or Blender for mesh cleanup, bevels and boolean work. Keep the original STL scale unless your target app asks for a unit conversion.
Open the STL in Bambu Studio, place the flat side on the build plate, and check that narrow logo strokes preview as continuous toolpaths before starting the print.
STL files do not store real units. This tool sizes the model in millimetres, so a 100 mm wide model should import as 100 mm in most slicers.
